Kavajë is the town behind the beaches south of Durrës. Golem, Mali i Robit and Qerret sit on its coast, but the town itself lies a few kilometres inland on the Durrës–Rrogozhinë road, with the railway, a market, schools, clinics and the everyday shops the beach strip lacks out of season. Property here is a different market from the front line: apartments in the town at well below Golem prices, houses with a plot in the villages around it, warehouses and commercial buildings on the main road. It is the choice for a buyer who wants to live near the sea all year without paying for a sea view, or who needs land and space that the beach zone no longer has.
